"Seeing my paintings in my local Town Hall was a very big honour indeed” – Malcolm Blake- Lawson, Artist.
The Art Wall offers a great opportunity for local artists to reach a wider audience throughout Leigh-on-Sea and surrounding areas. Primarily a watercolour artist, Malcolm Blake-Lawson showcased his work on the Art Wall earlier this year and his classic take on Leigh scenes proved very popular with visitors to the Centre. Malcolm chose to take up residency at the Centre during some of his exhibition time, giving visitors a chance to "Meet the Artist”, learn about his inspiration and painting process and this has opened up some new doors for Malcolm.
"I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the response, and by the warmth and sense of inclusiveness I’ve experienced from all the people I’ve met… the pleasure I got from the exhibition was priceless”.
Malcolm has donated one of the painting’s he featured in his exhibition to Leigh-on-Sea Town Council, the image "Free Fish” which is the chosen front cover of Issue 10 of the Town Council magazine, due for release in October. The painting will be on permanent display within Leigh Community Centre. Malcolm is also looking forward to continuing to work with the Council’s Arts Group going forward.
