A SHOP local, shop safe campaign has been launched ahead of the wider reopening of shops on Monday June 15.
Over recent weeks Southend Business Improvement District (BID), councillors and officers from Southend Council, Leigh Town Council, the seafront traders association, Essex Chambers of Commerce and other local businesses have been working together to deal with the Government’s relaxation of lockdown measures and ensure that the Borough is a safe place to visit and shop.
The group is working hard to help our local economy bounce back stronger than ever and help businesses to reopen safely and keep residents safe too.
In addition, Leigh Town Council have made representation on behalf of the pubs and residents in the Old Town for some safe guards to be put in place on the reopening weekend for public and trader protection. It is receiving favourable support from Borough Councillors so it is hoped action will be taken.
The Safer Southend partnership have provided a limited stock of the downloadable signage from the SouthendBid website. It is in the lobby area of Leigh Community Centre for collection between 8 am and 3.30 pm Monday to Friday.. Please only take what you need.
