The giving tree

Leigh Town Council’s giving tree at Leigh Community has been a roaring success.  With the incredible support from our generous community, over 80 bags containing food, coats and winter warmers have been donated.

These donations have been shared between local charities helping the homeless or vulnerable including Harp Southend, SVP Westcliff, the All Rise Collective, Southend Foodbank, One Love Soup Kitchen, Balmoral and Hadleigh Salvation Army. Collections and delivery of the donations has been coordinated between Leigh Town Council and Leigh Tin Teams.

The Town Council are unable to continue to collect coat donations past January as the Community Centre bookings will begin to get busy again and space is limited, but they encourage people to still consider donating direct to the charities via local charity shops. And, although the tree will go, Leigh Tin Teams will continue to have a drop off point for food donations only, next to their Community fridge/larder.

As the campaign has been so successful, it is hoped it will run again in 2022. Thank you to all our residents who have donated.
