Leigh Town Council responds to over 300 Santa letter

Young residents were encouraged to post their letters to Santa in the Town Council’s special post box, as part of their festive lighting display in Leigh Library Gardens.

This is the second year the Town Council has hosted Santa’s post box; last year responding to approximately 200 letters. This year, Council staff responded to over 300 letters, which were hand delivered by Councillors.

For those residents that didn’t leave a return address, a letter template was also available to download from our website.

Events Officer, Emily French for Leigh Town Council said, “It’s wonderful to see the Post Box have such an impact and the letters are simply adorable. Many of which were decorated with festive pictures, kind words and well wishes…and of course, catalogue cut-outs! There were also letters asking for forgiveness, Covid to go away and one asking for the return of their lost cat, which were really touching. The Town Council wish all their young residents a very Merry Christmas.”

Special thanks are also given to local resident, Linda Caitling, for the addition of her kniited post box hat which was admired by many and the perfect addition to the display.
