As one of the main focuses for the Town Council is ensuring the well being of it's Community, the Town Council are dedicated to providing fun, family events to please all residents.
Our main event of the year, "Leigh Lights" aims to bring Christmas cheer to all! Held at the end of November the event takes place on the Broadway and Leigh Road, with a huge parade of floats, characters and dancers underneath our lovely town lights. The festivities are continued throughout the town with musical performances, stalls and foodie treats, as well as children's entertainment in the Community Centre. The Town Council work closely with local traders and community groups to promote activities and involvement.
At the beginning of December we aim to truly ring in the Yuletide with our Carols event taking place on our newly rennovated Strand Wharf. Singing at twilight, the event has a lovely atmosphere for all the family. We offer mince pies at the end of the carols, and welcome donation towards the Chairman's Charity
In 2015 the Council launched its programme of children's activities taking place throughout all of the school holidays at Leigh Community Centre. We aim to provide affordable fun and put on a variety events such as arts and crafts, gardening, animal handling, storytelling, inflatables, drama & dance workshops, magic shows, puppet shows and much more. To see whats coming up visit the Centre website, you can also sign up for our mailing list so you never miss out!
Each April a public meeting is held at the Community Centre in which all Leigh residents are invited to attend. You can find out about the Council's future plans, local community groups, the winners of our Good for Leigh awards and what has been going on in your Town.
The event showcases the very best local entrepreneurial talents on offer, selling a variety of items including home decor, stationery, confectionery, healthy foods, children's activities, marketing and illustration services, photography, musicians and more.
Each June we hold our community focused event for local community groups and charities to showcase their activities and opportunities. Residents can learn about what's on in their area and get involved with local groups.
Since 2017 the Council has been running their own Christmas Shopping event with dozens of stalls and festive entertainment. It is always a popular event in the Town.
Since it's inception in 1996, Leigh-on-Sea Town Council has prided itself on organising and hosting fantastic community events across the Town.
