Community Transport Group

The Community Transport Group was set up in the late 90's after the inception of the Council as a way to give something back to our retired residents. Over 60's who are living within the Town Council Boundary can become a member of our Community Transport Group and enjoy outings and theatre trips with door to door travel included.

Our recent trips have included:

  • The Museum of Power, Langford
  • "Copacabana" at the Palace Theatre, Westcliff
  • Audley End House & Gardens in Saffron Walden
  • Rayleigh Town Museum and the Rayleigh Windmill
  • Beth Chatto Gardens and Tiptree Jam Factory
  • "Hooray for Hollywood" at the Cliffs Pavilion
  • Shopping at Alton Garden Centre
  • Christmas Lunch at the Sarah Moore

Our Upcoming Trips are:

  • Shopping at Barleylands Village and Summerhill Garden Centre
  • "All Shook Up" at the Palace Theatre, Westcliff
  • Ada Cole Redwings Centre, Harlow with Pub Lunch
  • Chelmsford Museum

We aim to provide around one excursion a month with a variety of destinations visited. We also frequently provide trips to local musicals, plays and concerts taking place at the Palace Theatre, Cliffs Pavilion or other local venues. Where possible we aim to provide our members with discounts on their tickets to ensure a great day out at a fair price!

We will write to you frequently to inform you of our upcoming trips, you can pick and choose which events you would like to attend, and you are welcome to attend as many as you would like! We ask that you return your booking slip with the enclosed fee and return to the Council Offices as soon as possible as spaces can be limited.

You will be picked up from your front door or communal entrance and taken to the event by minibus and then returned back to your door. We have helpers to assist those with disabilities and our minibuses have disabled access. We also give you a pick up slot in advance so you know when to be ready. All you pay is your ticket cost, refreshment costs if included, and a contribution towards travel costs. All administrative costs are met by the Town Council and we use volunteer drivers and helpers.

It's an excellent way to make friends with like minded people and get out of the house! To apply for an application form contact the council on 01702 716288 or email council@leighonseatowncouncil.gov.uk or alternatively visit the council offices within Leigh Community Centre.
