The mission statement of Leigh-on-Sea Town Council, created in 1996 is 'To promote, represent and provide for the community of Leigh-on-Sea'. This is done by 16 Councillors serving the Town over 8 wards.
Last evening councillors attended the Requiem Mass at St Clements Church for Sir David. It was an event that no one would want to attend but it was so special and part of the mourning process. We sang together, cried together, mourned together and supported each other. Representatives from all over the community were in attendance. It was so moving that out of this shocking situation the town was able to reconnect parts of our community that have been adrift from each other during the pandemic. The Chairman of Council and Town Clerk attended the special Council at the Borough for an incredibly moving evening too, listening to the tributes for Sir David. Other guests included those from the emergency services first on the scene last week and we are truly thankful for their selflessness and bravery every day.
The Council offer a wide variety of services, however some of these are currently suspended due to current pandemic.
