Profile:
I am a fisherman who has lived in Leigh for over 45 years. I have fished from Leigh for 50 years and my family over 200 years before me. I served on the Southend Lifeboat for 30 years as Helmsman and was made a Freeman of the Borough in year 2000 for my services to Southend. I am at present serving a second term as the Commodore of the Essex Yacht Club. I am also a member of the Endeavour Trust and skipper of the Dunkirk Little Ship Endeavour.
I am the elected representative for the South East branch of the National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations and I represent the fishing industry nationally and internationally. I am passionate about the environment and want more protection for it. I was responsible for the introductions of marine conservation zones of the Rivers Crouch, Blackwater and Roach, eventually getting the River Medway as well. I was a founder member off the Strand Wharf and the Leigh port Partnership groups.
I am a published author "Sole Searching” and have a second book about to be published. I have written many pieces for magazines and newspapers with numerous letters being published. I love Rugby and Cricket and played for Southend Rugby club for many years. I have 3 grandchildren, 2 of which live in Leigh.
I am passionate about Leigh and its people. I want to make a positive difference to all of Leigh.
