Carole has been a Town Councillor since 2007, representing the St Clement's Ward which encompasses the Broadway and surrounding streets down into the Old Town. Carole was Chairman of the Council in 2012/13 when it took over the community centre and she led the campaign to save the Library when threatened with cuts.
In her second term as Council Chairman for 2016/17, Carole was heavily involved in organisation and policy making issues at the Council and has particular interest in the Town's heritage, tourism and business sectors.
Carole is an executive member of the Leigh Society and a Trustee of Leigh Heritage Centre and represents Leigh on the Leigh Coastal Communities Team, is Chairman of the North Thames Fisheries Local Action Group, as well as being a Director of the Leigh Port Partnership and works with a variety of organisations to promote and enhance Leigh within the City and beyond.
Carole is a local amateur historian and genealogist of Leigh families and believes passionately in preserving the heritage of Leigh and its environment.
Carole also represents Leigh on the Southend-on-Sea City Council and is Cabinet Member for Planning and the Environment for the Borough.
