Community Meetings

Residents can engage with authorities on a number of topics at community meetings throughout the Town.  It ensures that we all have our say and get our voices heard. 

Details of any meetings will be posted here and minutes when received.

Friends of Groups - Leigh Library Gardens

Leigh Library Gardens

Volunteers are needed to join the friendly group "Friends of Leigh Library Gardens", to both help maintain the historic gardens of Leigh Library in Broadway West and to make improvements to the community space. The Friends meet in the gardens, near the Library building from 10:00am - 11:30am every Wednesday morning as well as on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at the same time. 

All are welcome and tools are provided. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear. Just show up on the day to get involved!

Public Defibrillators 

Leigh-on-Sea Town Council has installed the following defibrillators for public use:

  • Leigh Community Centre (available when the Centre is open or staff are in the building)
  • Strand Wharf - located to the rear of the Heritage Centre
  • Entrance to Manchester Drive Allotments - Manchester Drive/Prittlebrook
  • In addition, Leigh Lions have installed a defibrillator for public use at 114 Leigh Road

All the above defibrillators are checked regularly by Leigh-on-Sea Town Council.

The Town Council are grateful to Leigh Lions for enabling the Strand Wharf and Manchester Drive allotments defibrillators

A further public defibrillator is located outside at Leigh Library but this is not under the control of the Town Council. This machine was installed by the Leigh and Thorpe Bay Rotary Clubs and the Carli Lansley Foundation. 

A defibrillator can also be found outside the front doors of Waitrose on the London Road.

Public Bleed Kits

There are bleed kits available for the public in the following places:

  • Leigh Community Centre on the right hand side from the main entrance
  • Strand Wharf - located to the rear of the Heritage Centre

The above kits are checked regularly by Leigh-on-Sea Town Council.

The Town Council are grateful to Davis Construction for sponsoring the bleed kits.

LitterLess Leigh

LitterLess Leigh meet regularly to undertake litter picks around the Leigh marshes, Two-Tree Island and the areas around the station. Anyone is welcome to attend, equipment is provided. Join the LitterLess Leigh Facebook group for more information www.facebook.com/groups/1801524143482342

Community Larder

Hosted in Leigh Community Centre and overseen by the Leigh Tin Teams, the idea is very simple, you can pop in food that you wish to donate or no longer need and someone can take it. The fridge is located in the foyer of Leigh Community Centre and can be accessed any time the Centre is open.

If you have food to donate, please check the lists below for what we can and can't accept.

  • Unopened pasteurised/UHT milk or yogurt
  • Unopened fruit juice

  • Fresh eggs (with a traceable lion stamp and within date) 
  • Bread and bakery items
  • Cooking sauces and oils 
  • Honey, jams, jellies and preserves
  • Sealed fermented or pickled items (e.g. gherkins, beetroot etc)

Foods not accepted 

  • Home cooked meals 
  • Unpasteurised milk
  • Cooked rice
  • Raw milk cheeses
  • Raw meat or seafood
  • Pates
  • Bean sprouts
  • Any products containing the above
  • Unlabelled multiple ingredient items
  • Alcohol
  • Products containing alcohol
  • Any food that was previously frozen
  • Energy drinks
