Councillor James Preston

I have lived in Leigh all my life and am passionate that our town retains its individuality and community spirit for future generations.

I went to Our Lady of Lourdes nursery, Chalkwell Hall School and Cecil Jones High School and my family were highly active within the local Cubs/Scouts scene. I spent many happy days at Belchamps and the local beaches learning the importance of local history and what it means to play an active role within the community.

I still have a strong interest in local history, particularly the local architecture, be it residential, public or commercial buildings and am in the process of restoring my 120 year old Leigh home.

As a keen cyclist, motorist and father, I am passionate about road safety for all residents.

I wish to engage with my peers in striving to do what is best for the community and not giving up on the challenge to improve the space that we are all lucky to enjoy.

Having been a Leigh resident all my life I now share the fond traditions and memories with my own family including the Leigh Folk Festival, Leigh Art Trail, Leigh Lights and a personal favourite of my son and I, the Leigh Regatta, all of which make Leigh a wonderful place to live.
